Can I itch anymoe

Monday October 30

Can I itch any more? I think not. I am a veritable smorgasboard buffet for every insect with a mouth. My right thigh from knee to hip hd 26 bites, I stopped counting after that, Rebecca said it looks like I have Chicken pox.....i am bringing Sexy Back.....NOT! I itch in places I have never itched before......nuff said!!!!

Today we went to the Elephant Conservatory and Hospital. We watched the Elephants frolic in the river for their morning bath. They looked so happy submerging themselves and splashing each other with water from their truncks. There was a group of guides and some guest who stayed overnight at the conservatory for what was called "home stay". Which is staying overnight and working with the elephants. They were beaming. We inquired and it is 3000 baht (approx 80 US) per night. I asked an aussie family about the experience and they said one day and night was enough, as your "knees and bum" will be very sore. We think we will try to find a way to do this within our budget, more to come. The hospital is free of charge for the elephants and their owners and the people who staff the Conservatory seem to truly care about the animals in their charge. We had a fabulous time.
Then it was on to Wat Phra That Lampang luang. It was built around 1476. Our driver, set up by Jen (have I mentioned how good she has been to us) stopped people at the temple to tell us things in english. He had someone point out the Buddha image that was over 1300 years old sitting in the courtyard that was decorated for the Loi Khratong festival. This was of museum quality and reeked on antiquity. We signed the banner to go around the Wat (pictures on next post) and visited the the museum on site. This was even more of a treasure trove of antiquites. WOW!
After te Wat we met up with Jen and went to the market. I am still very fascinated by them, nothing hidden away like in western markets. You get to see the freshly (?) slaughtered meat, flys and all. Then onto BIG C which they call a store, but to me it seemed like a mall. I needed batteries for the camera, but Jen and Rebecca seemed to have the most fun looking for shoes, 99 baht (about 2.50) for shoes. Obviously a womens heaven on earth....lol..as they were all smiles. Both found a pair and seemed very pleased with themselves. We finished up the night eating at MK restuarant. A sukiyaki eatery where you cook your food in a soup broth at your table. MMMmmmm. I had some roast duck as well that was quite fabulous.
